As
most horse lovers do, most of my childhood memories involve
a soft muzzle, a long fuzzy mane, and the steadiness that
only comes from those been-there-done-that horses you just
can't put a price on. Our older, wiser horses didn't last
very long, but they gave us the confidence to move on to
the younger, faster horses that carried us into adulthood.
Now that I am a mom, I am faced with the same problem that
my parents had - a little girl that wants her very own horse.
I wanted something different for my daughter. I wanted her
to have a horse that she can hopefully stay with for years
and years to come. But I still wanted her to be safe...
In short, I wanted every parent's dream and needed a solution
to make it happen. Training was the key, and I knew that.
The area is full of horse trainers. How hard could it be?
First, I had to think of what my objectives were, then find
a perfect stranger that ultimately held my daughter's life
in their hands.
I spent weeks on the phone, looking through advertisments
and websites, getting leads and speaking with one trainer
after another. I thought of how difficult this must be for
people looking for a trainer, and how I thought it unfair
that some very good trainers probably were overlooked.
Then I thought, how easy would it be if we could just get
our area trainers in the same place, at the same time, and
watch them in action? The idea of the Chippewa Valley Equine
Challenge was born. Our goal is to introduce prospective
clients to our local trainers, give recognition to our leading
trainers, and of course, to learn and have fun. We hope
that you join us for the 2010 Chippewa Valley Equine Challenge! |
